Bassem M. Chehab joined our group following his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, where he was honored as Chief Fellow. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas where he was honored as Chief Resident. Dr. Chehab is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Medicine. He is a member in multiple professional medical societies and has served on multiple hospital committees at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is the director of the Structural Cardiology and Hybrid Operating Room programs at Via Christi Hospitals in Wichita.

He has a long and extensive research tract and worked on multiple pivotal clinical trials and research projects throughout his training at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he was involved with some of the pioneering work on Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Left Atrial Appendage closure and others. He is the author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles. He enjoys teaching and training future health professionals. He is a recognized researcher and has presented at multiple local and national cardiovascular meetings and had received multiple research awards.

Dr. Chehab's clinical practice is focused on Interventional Cardiology, Valvular and Structural Disorders, Peripheral Artery Disease, Peripheral Vascular Intervention, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Pulmonary Veins Stenosis, Fibromuscular Dysplasia, Cardiac CT angiography and Advanced Imaging Techniques. He has a deep focus on cardiac clinical trials and new cardiovascular drugs and devices research.

Dr. Chehab specializes in complex coronary interventions and structural cardiology interventions including Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closure, Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure, Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) closure, Alcohol Septal Ablation for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Balloon Valvuloplasty, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, Pulmonary Veins Stents, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and Percutaneous Mitral Valve Repair (Mitral Clip).
